The extreme vehicle is made to handle the most challenging school rides, although it promises to get your kids there in ultimate comfort.

Smiling in the face of the school run: this is the new Torsus Praetorian School Bus, designed for the most extreme locations
We’ve already seen the Torsus Terrastorm van that can be converted for multiple uses, including a nomad ambulance and a van that can be used anywhere.
However, the school bus is the most bizarre version of its other model – the Praetorian – we’ve seen yet.
It starts life as a MAN truck with a 6.9 liter diesel engine producing 286 hp and a torque of 1,150 Nm.
That’s enough grunts to haul the 13-tonne powerhouse up a 65 percent incline.
The manufacturer has ramped up the ride height to monster truck levels to clear obstacles, while the four-wheel drive and off-road Michelin tires add to its capability in challenging conditions.
It also has a 900mm wading depth and double glass windows that won’t shatter if the bus driver hits a rock.

Other special features include custom original seats styled around math and science designs and a digital sign to let parents know this is the right bus to take their kids to school – not that it doesn’t stand out enough.
The seats are covered with a protective polymer coating and equipped with a seat belt suitable for all ages, while optional extras for the seats include a fold-down armrest and an aisle side hip rest – in case the route crashes particularly.
The interior is packed with soundproofing – just in case the kids need to overhaul for an exam – and it has an easy-to-clean floor, as there is likely to be a lot of mess going on around the cabin.
Torsus even offers a full quota of optional extras upon request, including a TV and DVD player to keep the kids entertained on the long journey home.

Vakhtang Dzhukashvili, CEO of Torsus, said a school bus conversion was “ one of the first ideas ” he had when he envisioned a range of durable off-roaders.
“The Praetorian is a safe and solid vehicle that we know can protect its occupants in even the most demanding conditions.
“Customers all over the world need a school bus solution to drive safely and efficiently on test grounds, the Praetorian School Bus is an option that performs well every time.”
The Praetorian is available in over 20 different conversions, all at different costs.
This includes an ambulance, safari vehicle, riot car, or even a ski bus.
The entry-level bus starts at € 166,000 (around £ 150,000), while the most expensive variant – the equipped ‘Expedition’ – starts at € 368,000 (£ 332,000).
