A father and grandfather died after jumping into a Gold Coast hotel pool to rescue a child who had fallen.
The men, aged 38 and 65, were discovered unconscious in the rooftop pool of Top of the Mark Holiday Apartments in Surfers Paradise just before 7pm on Sunday.
They were pulled from the pool by bystanders who performed CPR until emergency services arrived, but the couple could not be saved.
A two-year-old boy was playing on the edge of the pool when he fell, causing his father and grandfather to jump in fully clothed.
Mitchell Ware, from the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), said the two adults found themselves in trouble.
