As Prime Day nears its end for 2024, now is a great time to buy a Kindle. At WIRED, we’re big fans of them. It is a great solution for library lovers who always want to access tons of books on the go in a compact and lightweight format. But they can be expensive. If you’ve been putting off buying one, you’re in luck, because there are Amazon Prime Day Kindle deals on many of our favorite models.
As a reminder, we don’t recommend anything we haven’t tried and we do so all year round. Kindle Deals
This is currently our favorite Kindle. It includes a 6.8-inch display with small bezels, adjustable warm lighting, and 16 gigabytes of storage. It also comes with a USB-C port for wireless charging. We also suggest spending the extra $20 to get rid of ads on your lock screen. We are seeing rumors that new Kindles are comingand Amazon updates Paperwhite regularly. However, this model still works very well.
We recommend Scribe (8/10, WIRED recommends) for note taking and drawing. Being a Kindle, the reading experience is still seamless, but the large 10.2-inch screen is ideal for taking notes, marking up PDFs, and illustrating. However, we don’t recommend it for professional artists who want something a little more complex. You also can’t write on the pages of a book (for those who like to annotate while reading) and it’s not waterproof. At this time only the 16 gigabyte version is in stock. He The Kindle Scribe Essentials Bundle is also on sale for $300 ($140 off) which gives you the pen and a stylish leather case.
This is our favorite Kindle for kids. Comes with a library of kids’ content, parental controls, one-year subscription to Kids Amazon+and a two-year warranty. It also has a high-resolution 300 ppi display and can switch between light and dark modes. We’ve seen it fall slightly lower in the past, between $105 and $110, but it’s still a solid deal. If your child breaks it, there’s a worry-free two-year warranty and Amazon will replace your device for free.
Kindle Accessories Deals
The purpose of the case is to protect your Kindle. My old man served his purpose, because my puppy ate him. The Kindle is safe so now I need a new case and that’s why I’m including this one.
This is a great accessory if you’re looking for a more comfortable way to hold your Kindle. Soft silicone straps attach to the back of the e-reader and give you a better place to rest your hands. It is available in various sizes depending on the type of e-reader you have.
WIRED reviewer Nena Farrell tried this and said it’s a super convenient and comfortable experience, especially if you have any sources of chronic pain in your hands and wrists. The clamp is easy to attach to bed frames and side tables. and it’s light enough to use anywhere (with enough neck strength that it won’t fall forward or slip out of the position you put it in). This is my favorite reading light. It looks a little silly, but it’s a great alternative to a clip-on reading light. It’s adjustable, lightweight, and comes with three color temperature modes and six brightness settings. It’s also rechargeable, with up to 80 hours of battery life when on the dimmer setting.
What’s a Prime Day without a ton of Kindle e-books on sale? Most of these are not recommended by WIRED. However, we saw some of our favorites, including by Marcus Aurelius Meditations ($2) and Penny Reid Smile and have a beard ($3) (I’m an eclectic person with eclectic tastes).
