Legendary skater Tony Hawk is enjoying the arrival of his first grandchild.
On Saturday, his son Riley Hawk and his wife Frances Bean Cobain surprised many people when they announced the birth of their first child, a boy they named Ronin.
The new mother posted the news via Instagram on Saturday, writing: ‘17.9.2024 Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk. Welcome to the world, most beautiful son. We love you more than anything.’
The daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain and Hole frontwoman Courtney Love posted three photos, set to John Lennon’s song Beautiful Boy, which was a tribute to the birth of her son Sean in 1980.
Tony Hawk would also join in the happy news and show his sense of humor by calling his first-born grandson: “My favorite grandson!”

Harper Grohl, the 15-year-old daughter of disgraced Foo Fighters lead singer Dave Grohl, was among those who left supportive comments.
The teen left a series of crying and black heart emojis below the post, which consisted of several black and white photos of Ronin.
Cobain then reposted the upload to his Instagram Stories, and that’s when he added the beautiful song Beautiful Boy by John Lennon, who was among his father’s favorite musical artists.
The post showed a first look at their new bundle of joy and included a snap of the pro skater cradling his son as he gazed adoringly at the baby.
Another snapshot showed Cobain’s finger wrapped inside his son’s tiny index finger and thumb.
Cobain and Hawk did not announce that they were expecting a child, which in turn caught fans completely off guard when the news broke.
It comes weeks after Riley took to Instagram to wish his wife a happy birthday with a sweet post.
Uploading a black and white image of the couple smiling and holding hands, he added: “Happy birthday to my queen!”
Shortly after Ronin’s birth, Hawk called him, “My favorite grandson.”

The couple began dating in 2021, and after approximately two years of dating, they legalized their union by marrying in a ceremony officiated by REM lead singer Michael Stripe in October 2023.
In what was probably another gesture of respect towards the late Smells Like Teen Spirit rocker, considering he was also a big fan of REM, who have since amicably split in 2011.
