Tony Ferguson has been confirmed to make his return to the octagon at UFC 262 against Beneil Dariush on May 15.

Prior to his breakdown, the American had been run wild by the division, claiming 12 consecutive wins over Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Kevin Lee and Edson Barbosa.

Dariush will undergo the toughest test of his MMA career against Ferguson, but is certainly the more in shape fighter to have won six consecutive bouts.

The Iranian, currently ninth in the UFC Lightweight Standings, has beaten Diego Ferreira, Drew Drober, Rashid Magomedov, James Vick, Michael Johnson and James Miller on a thrilling run that dates back to November 2018.

Following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s recent retirement from the lightweight division, Ferguson will try to create one last chance to top the division standings above Dustin Poirier and and Justin Gaethje – who hold the top two places.

Elsewhere on the map are middleweight contenders Jack Hermansson and Edmen Shahbazyan, both trying to recover from recent losses.

Edson Barboza also enters the octagon on May 15 against Shane Burgos after recently signing a new UFC contract.
