It comes hours before Tommy, 25, finally details the real reasons why he split from fiancée Molly-Mae Hague in a new interview on Wednesday.
In the talk that was carefully scheduled days before the long-awaited release of Molly-Mae’s documentary, amid rumors that their breakup in August 2024 was a publicity stunt, Tommy spoke candidly about his mental health battle.
The boxer insisted he had never cheated on Molly-Mae, calling rumors about other women complete and utter idiocy.
“The reason Molly and I broke up was because I became addicted to alcohol and could no longer be the couple I wanted to be,” he confessed.
‘It kills me to say it, (but) it’s true, I couldn’t. I loved a pint of beer, I loved drinking and it is what it is. People go through different things in life and we all have our crosses to bear. I have to bear mine.
Tommy explained how his problems began when he underwent reconstructive surgery in January 2024, after tearing all the ligaments in his hand in 2019.
He said his “mental health was in the frying pan” during his recovery from surgery, which came after the “best year I’ve ever had” in 2023, in which both his career and his life with Molly flourished.
The couple, who finished runners-up in the fifth season of the reality show Love Island in 2019, got engaged in 2023, months after welcoming their daughter Bambi.
Explaining how a big part of his identity was taken away from him when he could no longer train, Tommy said his diet and fitness were the first things he let go before turning to alcohol.

The next morning, Tommy spoke in an interview and revealed that he became dependent on alcohol following a boxing injury and admitted that his mental health was “in danger”.
Tommy explained how his problems began when he underwent reconstructive surgery in January 2024, after tearing all the ligaments in his hand in 2019.
“I have only lived to train and for my family, and that was taken from me. So what I did for fun was I started drinking a lot. I found that’s what made me feel better,” he said, adding, “I wanted the endorphins that I would get when I finished a good session, when I finished training, when I finished fighting.”
Admitting that he went out most nights and drank until he was “blackout drunk,” he said he replaced his intense boot camp schedule by “crushing Guinness left, right and center and then, later in the night, going out drinks.”
Tommy’s relationship soon began to suffer, but he insisted that he never cheated on Molly and also maintained his close bond with his daughter Bambi during the dark period.
Over the past year, Tommy has been photographed on rowdy nights out with his mates, including a weekend in Budapest where he was photographed with the former Miss Hungary.
He was also photographed at an event at the Hungarian Opera House with another brunette woman during the same drunken trip. The trip is said to have contributed to their separation.
“The cheats never existed,” Tommy insisted. You can ask Molly yourself. It was the drink, and the drink is not a good thing. You have to control it.’
‘If you’re in the same situation as me, where you think it’s going to cure all your problems, it’s not like that. You wake up even worse and want to drink more to try to feel happy again. That’s the cycle.”
Now Molly-Mae, who was filmed kissing her ex on New Year’s Eve, is said to be considering what Tommy would have to do to make their relationship work.
The mother’s set of stipulations are said to include banning parties and collaborating more with family life instead of focusing on her boxing matches.

Molly-Mae announced her shock split from Tommy, also 25, in August, five years after they met on ITV reality dating show Love Island.
But according to friends, Molly-Mae has “never stopped loving” Tommy and is mulling a path forward romantically with the professional athlete.
It has been claimed that Molly-Mae and Tommy’s reunion will be the focus of their new Prime TV show, Behind it All, which will also document their emotional breakup.
The first three episodes of the show will be released exclusively on Prime Video globally on January 17 and the final three episodes will be released in Spring 2025.
