Speak on the Dangerous dinners podcast, said Max: ‘Tom has something like glioblastoma, which is a pretty aggressive form of brain tumor, but he’s had his first bout of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, to which he’s responded incredibly.
Doctors were actually shocked by how well he responded – all of his tumors have been suppressed, so he’s in the best of hands.
‘In itself, Tom … Nothing puts Tom down, nothing. When you talk to him, it’s like everything is normal, and he just wants it – he wants normalcy.
“He’s just had his second child, so he has so much to focus on – he’s doing great, he’s doing really well.”

The singer, turned actor, continued: ‘Tom will be fine, it’s a terrible thing that happens to someone and I can’t think of anyone who deserves it less than Tom, but he’s got to do with it. And I am really proud of him how he handles it. ‘
He added, ‘We’re trying to raise awareness of the science behind it, as new treatments are constantly taking place with it.
So it makes sense to some extent [that there’s no cure] but he responds so well to the treatment, so hopefully something will come along and it can be cured – that’s the ultimate goal. ‘
During the interview, Max shared how he heard about Tom’s diagnosis when the brave star Kelsey’s wife, 31, called him while he was shooting a movie.

He admitted: ‘It took me weeks to process, but I just wanted to see it. Luckily I only had two days left, so within three days of finding out I was with him.
‘You just want to be there, I couldn’t believe what I was told, but as soon as I saw him it’s like it changes; you’re here to help him and be there for him and keep his courage up so he can get better. ‘
Last week, Tom took to Instagram to share an inspiring behind-the-scenes photo of his battle with a brain tumor.
Next to a photo of him being treated, the father of two wrote, “Another day to save my life.”

During a performance on Loose Women earlier this month, she said, “ I just don’t think they really know Dad is sick right now.
“When Tom goes to treatment, he’s off or going to work or wherever he goes.
So to them they don’t really know how sick their dad really is. They are doing so well, the kids. We are all doing very well. ‘
She continued: ‘We have only just started our second round [of chemotherapy], so we’ve had radio and chemo, we’ve had a little break because he had a bit of an unreliable liver, and now we’re just getting into the second round of chemo.
‘We were all in tears when we got that news in January’: Kelsey said they were all ‘overwhelmed’ when they found out Tom’s tumor had shrunk
‘The tumor has shrunk, we’ve had a significant reduction. We were all in tears when we got that news in January.
“We just couldn’t believe he’d had radio and chemo and then a significant reduction. We were all so overwhelmed. ‘
Tom informed fans of his progress in a lengthy post in January announcing that his tumor would be getting smaller.
He wrote: ‘SIGNIFICANT REDUCTION These are the words I have received today and I can’t stop saying them over and over.
‘I had an MRI scan on Tuesday and my results today were a significant reduction in the tumor and I am responding well to the treatment. Every day I keep fighting to make this bastard down!
He continued, ‘I can’t thank our great NHS enough. You all have a hard time out there, but we appreciate the work you are all doing on the front lines. ‘
