Tom Hiddleston teases how Loki’s new ability to time-slip could bring back characters who have died in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Season two of Loki saw the title character learn how to control his time wasting, allowing him to go to a specific date and time if he ever needed to – or just wanted to.
Hiddleston was this season’s first guest The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon who was allowed to discuss current projects on Wednesday after the end of the 118-day actors’ strike. So, of course, Fallon took full advantage and asked the actor everything he could about the show’s finale Thursday, without revealing any spoilers.
Towards the end of Hiddleston’s performance, the late night host asked the actor to give his thoughts on a few Marvel fan theories, one of which was about how his time-lapse could play out in the MCU.
“Since Loki now knows how to make time slip away, can he look for someone like Tony Stark, aka Iron Man?” Fallon asked, to which Hiddleston responded while pointing his finger guns at the host. “This man. This is investigative journalism right here! I mean…wasting time technically gives Loki some interesting moves he can make.”
He explained that Loki can indeed move from the past, present, and future, so there is a world where he could go to a point in time where Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, or any other character who has died still exists. empathize. Hiddleston got a little nervous when he pointed out whether the dead really stay dead in the Marvel Universe, which brings back famous characters after they die.
‘Speaking for myself, Loki has died a few times. I’m still here,” Hiddleston said. “I don’t know if death is necessarily… I mean, death is there for the taking, like an existential question! That’s all I can give you!”
