Tom Hanks has once again warned his fans that the advertisements that appear to show his image are not actually him: they are the work of artificial intelligence.

The 68-year-old Oscar winner addressed his Instagram on Thursday night to inform his 9 million followers that viral commercials selling “miracle cures and wonder drugs” were created using artificial intelligence technology without his permission.

“There are multiple advertisements on the internet that falsely use my name, image and voice to promote miracle cures and wonder drugs. These advertisements have been created without my consent, fraudulently and using artificial intelligence,” the star’s message read.

‘I have nothing to do with these publications, the products, the treatments or the spokespersons who promote these cures.’

Tom emphasized that he works exclusively with his “board certified physician” to manage his type 2 diabetes.

“DO NOT BE FOOLED. DO NOT BE SCAMMED. DO NOT LOSE THE MONEY YOU HARD EARNED,” he concluded.

The post comes nearly a year after Tom issued a similar warning to fans about a fake dental ad that misused his image.

“BEWARE!! There is a video promoting a dental plan featuring an AI version of me. I have nothing to do with it,” Hanks wrote.

The video above the post appears to show a young depiction of the actor wearing a black shirt and suit jacket.

The Hollywood star has previously commented on the use of AI in the entertainment industry.

About the British comedian Adam Buxton Podcast In May 2023, he said: “We saw it coming. We saw that there was going to be this ability to take zeros and ones inside a computer and turn them into a face and a character. Now that’s only been multiplied by a billion since then, and we see it everywhere.

‘I can tell you that there are ongoing discussions at every guild, every agency, and every law firm to figure out the legal ramifications of my face and voice (and everyone else’s) being our intellectual property.

“Right now, if I wanted to, I could get together and propose a series of seven films that would star me and I would be 32 years old from now until the end of the world. Now anyone can recreate themselves at any age using AI or deepfake technology.”

He added: “Tomorrow I might get hit by a bus and that’s it, but the performances can go on and on and on. And beyond the understanding that it’s been done with artificial intelligence or deepfake, there’s nothing to tell you it’s not me and only me. And it will have some degree of realistic quality. That’s certainly an artistic challenge, but it’s also legal.”

Some of the films the actor has starred in include digitally altered versions of him.

The Polar Express premiered almost two decades ago, in 2004, but can you guess which roles Tom Hanks played?

It's been 30 years since the pair starred together in the iconic film Forrest Gump (pictured) and although they're reuniting for a new movie, somehow they don't look much different.

Meanwhile, the trailer for his latest film, Here, was released in June, showing the actor and his Forrest Gump co-star Robin Wright, 58, being rejuvenated using digital technology.

Hanks plays Richard, a baby boomer, while Wright plays his teenage girlfriend and eventual wife, Margaret.

Using a combination of traditional makeup effects and digital de-aging technology, Hanks appears as both a teenager and an 80-year-old man throughout the film’s extensive timeline.
