Hanks was promoting his new movie Elvis in an interview with CinemaBlend, when he admitted he didn’t think anyone would be interested in Forrest Gump’s bus bench scenes.
The bus bench scenes are the film’s anchor, with the main character of Hanks regaling strangers with various stories throughout his incredible life.

“I’ll tell you, in Forrest Gump, everything we shot on the park bench in Savannah, Georgia, we were just shooting fodder for a possible narrative element,” Hanks admitted.
“And I said to Bob (Zemeckis), ‘Is anybody going to care about that nut sitting on a (bench)? What is this ? Nobody knows what’s in that (box), I mean,” Hanks added.
“We ended up shooting, it was probably, you know, 13 pages of dialogue that we had to shoot in a day and a half,” Hanks admitted.
“It was written on index cards, (and) I didn’t need it after a while because we got into it,” Hanks said, before revealing what the director told him about it. scenes.
“But Bob says, ‘I don’t know, it’s a minefield, Tom, it’s a minefield. You never know what people are going to take away from it!” And it ends up being, you know, that thing,” Hanks said.
