One of Tom Cruise’s upcoming movies is a sci-fi thriller called Deeper.
The 62-year-old Hollywood veteran, whose ex-wife Nicole Kidman just stunned on the red carpet, will star in the next project from director Doug Liman, 59, which is in its early stages of development, according to Deadline.
According to the outlet, Liman gave the update at the recent screening of Gaucho Gaucho in New York City.
He shared that he had never done a horror film, noting, “And neither has Tom.”
It comes after Cruise teased an upcoming project with his audience on social media a week ago.

A single image showed him underwater, wearing black boxers while a diver in full gear floated nearby.
The protagonist seemed to be holding some sort of device in his mouth as a cloud of bubbles rose above his head.
In a caption to his 13 million Instagram followers, he wrote: “The training and preparation we put into this film is the culmination of everything that came before. From the depths to the skies, I can’t wait to share more with you “.
The plot of Deeper sees an astronaut confronted by a terrifying force during a deep dive into an unexplored channel.
Before landing in Liman’s hands via Warner Bros. Studios, the film was in production at MGM back in 2016.
Bradley Cooper was scheduled to appear as the title character and Kornél Mundruczó was on board to direct.
Another unsuccessful attempt to create the film included Idris Elba in the title role and Baltasar Kormákur as director.
If the third version comes to fruition, it will mark the third or fourth collaboration for Tom and Doug, whose previous projects include Edge of Tomorrow and American Made.
The duo is also currently working to bring to life a NASA film, which could be filmed in outer space in collaboration with SpaceX.
On November 11, Tom appeared online again to promote the Mission: Impossible sequel – Dead Reckoning.
Uploading a trailer, he wrote to his fans: ‘Our lives are the sum of our decisions. Mission: Impossible – The final reckoning. See you at the cinema on May 23, 2025.’
