The Australian’s dress included a cap sleeve design with a plunging V-neckline, with shimmering gold and black detailing, along with some silver leaf accents.

Tom was honored with the 2023 David O. Selznick Achievement Award at the Producers Guild of America Awards in Los Angeles on Saturday night.

The award is the PGA’s highest film honor and recognizes a producer or team for exceptional filmography.

The superstar joins an illustrious pantheon of past accolades, including Steven Spielberg, Mary Parent, Barbara Broccoli, David Heyman, Brian Grazer and Kevin Feige.

The box office titan earned his highest-grossing film ever with Top Gun: Maverick, which raked in nearly $1.5 billion at the box office in December against a budget of just $170 million, according to The Numbers.

“Tom Cruise showed us that filming was back,” Sherry Lansing declared as she gave Cruise a glowing introduction. “You are an exceptional person and you have had a huge impact on my career.”

Cruise commanded the stage and began his speech by talking about his love of movies growing up: “If I didn’t have the money, I’d figure out a way to sneak in.”

He continued, “I like to see people get it right. I know things don’t just happen. I know it’s not just luck.

You have to create that happiness. You have to want to make it happen. I want you to know that I’m always rooting for you. I’m rooting for you all.’

The megastar went on to talk about his close relationship with Stephen Spielberg and shared an anecdote about meeting famed director Brian De Palma through Spielberg.

“I spent many hours at (Spielberg’s) house and at his table talking about movies. It was at his dining room table that I met Brian De Palma.’ De Palma would direct Cruise in the first Mission: Impossible.

Cruise said in closing of his remarks, “The better each studio does, the better each movie does, the better we all do and the better it is for everyone.”

“So I look forward to seeing what you make in the future, and I will continue to do everything I can to contribute and help this industry and this art form that I love.”

In addition to box office gold, Top Gun: Maverick also received critical acclaim, earning a 96% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.4 out of 10 according to IMDb.

The film is Cruise’s highest-grossing film ever and the biggest worldwide success in Paramount Pictures’ entire history.

The National Board of Review also chose Top Gun Maverick as the best movie of 2022.
