Former NFL defensive end Chris Long said he thinks Patrick Mahomes is a better quarterback than future Hall of Famer Tom Brady during Tuesday’s episode of ‘Inside the NFL.’
Long, a two-time Super Bowl champion, played 11 years in the NFL after being selected with the second overall pick by the then-St. Louis Rams and spent one season as Brady’s teammate with the New England Patriots.
“In this streak, they beat the fastest team, they beat the hottest team in a row, and then they beat the MVP and the best team,” Long said of the Chiefs’ playoff run to win a Super Bowl.
‘They beat all those teams, on the road. They got beat by the Raiders at home, as if the things they did to get to where they got at the end of the season were incredible.
‘We spent the whole year trying to figure out who they were… Are they this sloppy team? Will they be favorites again in the playoffs? In fact, I think they had a lot of that sloppy team, but they were able to win despite that because of Patrick Mahomes and the coordinators and the head coach.
Former DE Chris Long said he thinks Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback he’s ever seen.
The Kansas City Chiefs QB recently won his third Super Bowl trophy and second in a row
Long was a teammate of Tom Brady when the Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2016/2017.
‘The greatness that they have at the top of this organization, the central players. That’s what shines and now the hardest work awaits you.
Patrick Mahomes, 28, and I played with Brady. I love Tom Brady, I’ve been calling him GOAT for years. But 28-year-old Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback I’ve ever seen.”
Long went on to mention that the hardest part of proving Mahomes is the best will happen now that he won his third Super Bowl ring with the Chiefs and how it took Brady 10 years to win another Super Bowl after his third.
One of Long’s Super Bowl victories came during his season teaming with Brady in 2016-17, before notching his second the following year with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Long finished his career with 70 sacks, 332 total tackles and 85 tackles for loss in 162 games played.
