Tom Brady appeared to take a subtle jab at Giants quarterback Daniel Jones at a Fanatics Fest panel

Tom Brady made a comment that recalled old rivalries with the New York Giants in his appearance in New York City on Friday.

Brady was at the first FanaticsFest in Manhattan, where he participated in a panel hosted by prominent media member Stephen A. Smith.

During the discussion, the former Patriots quarterback appeared to be discussing how he plans to approach his television play-by-play calling duties.

Brady said: ‘If I was doing it by myself and let’s say I threw a really bad interception, I’d go to the sideline and say, ‘You’re the worst quarterback in the world, how could you make that terrible throw?’

‘But I don’t want to be too critical, because in some ways I don’t necessarily know what the problem was on that play if, say… Daniel Jones throws an interception.

That sparked a mix of laughter and boos from the New York crowd, prompting Brady to immediately backtrack.

“I didn’t mean it like that, I wasn’t even criticizing Daniel Jones… maybe I was a little bit,” Brady joked with the crowd.

Brady and the Giants have a notoriously one-sided relationship, as the G-Men have defeated ‘Tom Terrific’ twice in the Super Bowl.

New England suffered its first loss at the hands of the Giants in Super Bowl XLII, where the undefeated Patriots fell short of a perfect season with a 17-14 defeat.

Four seasons later, the Patriots and Giants met again in Super Bowl XLVI, where New York once again won by a score of 21-17.

Some on social media took the opportunity to remind Brady of that fact, with comments like, “I see Brady is still bitter about those Super Bowl losses,” among others.

Brady is preparing for his first season in the Fox booth as a commentator alongside lead commentator Kevin Burkhardt.
