Tom Brady has given his thoughts on former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick’s return to football at the collegiate level.
Belichick, who Brady and Co. coaches to six Super Bowl titles in New England, has been away from the sidelines since he and the Patriots parted ways in January after 24 seasons.
However, speculation about the legendary coach’s future increased this week when it was announced that he had interviewed with the University of North Carolina for the school’s head coaching position.
The 72-year-old has never coached at the college level and his former quarterback wasn’t very optimistic about Belichick’s chances.
While appearing on FOX’s pregame coverage alongside former New England Patriots teammates Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman, Brady gave a cheeky look at Belichick’s potential future in collegiate football.
“No,” he replied emphatically when asked if he could imagine his former coach at the helm of a college team.

“There’s a lot of things he can do, and he’s obviously great and even shows his personality. But if you go on the recruiting trail and deal with all those students, that would….”
Gronkowski and Edelman echoed their former teammate’s assertion, emphasizing that they struggled to imagine Belichick juggling the contrast of duties from the NFL to the collegiate level.
“Can you imagine NIL and all that nonsense?” Gronkowski interjected before Edelman added, “Can you imagine Bill on a bench recruiting an 18-year-old?”
Brady also took the opportunity to mock his old coach, mimicking Belichick’s recruitment of a high school player into his program.
“Listen, do you really want to come here? I mean, we don’t really want you anyway, but I guess you could come, we’ll find out if you play,” he said, causing the FOX panel to burst into laughter.
The event included a performance by Arcade Fire and appearances by Scarlett Johansson and Alec Baldwin.
On Friday, it was claimed that Belichick had met with North Carolina officials in Manhattan for a second interview, just days after bomb threats claimed he had spoken to the school.
CBS Sports reports thisBelichick held renewed talks with the school on Thursday, the same day he appeared on the red carpet with his 24-year-old girlfriend at the American Museum of Natural History gala in New York.

The Tar Heels have been one of the teams linked with a move for Belichick since he left the Patriots. CBS claims the 72-year-old is ‘open’ to opportunities.
ESPN, meanwhile, reports that Belichick has “seriously considered” the North Carolina job – even though his appointment remains “unlikely.”
Belichick won six Super Bowls as head coach of the Patriots and reportedly blew UNC officials away when they spoke.
The Tar Heels, who went 6-6 this season, recently fired Mack Brown, who had won more games than any other UNC head coach.
Since leaving the Patriots, Belichick has worked as an analyst for “The Pat McAfee Show,” “ManningCast” and “Inside the NFL,” among others.
