While Tom Brady’s career as a football player is one for the books, the seven-time Super Bowl champion revealed that he “screwed up a lot” as a father.
Brady shares Jack, 17, with Bridget Moynahan before having a younger son and daughter, Benjamin and Vivian, with Gisele Bundchen.
The legendary quarterback confessed his shortcomings as a father during a panel discussion at the Fortune 2024 Global Forum in New York City.
When asked about how to motivate his children despite casting a huge shadow over them with his success, Brady said, “Every parent in the room knows that being a parent is probably the hardest job we all have.” And we make a lot of mistakes.’
“And I have made many mistakes as a father,” he reiterated. “I don’t want to sound like some kind of parenting expert, because I’m certainly not.”

Brady then shared how he strives to be a good father, telling the audience that his goal is to be “reliable and consistent” for his children.
He also stated that he greatly supports his children’s efforts and encourages them, admitting that “it sucks being Tom Brady’s son” as a child.
“The blessing my parents gave me,” he said, “was that when I was such a risk-taker as a backup quarterback on a freshman team, they never told me, ‘Man, don’t do that.’ It’s going to be too hard. Let’s do it.” something different. Let’s think of another backup plan.
‘They kind of said, ‘You know what? Go for it,” he added. “And that’s probably my parenting style.”
Brady’s confession comes two weeks after Bundchen announced her pregnancy with her boyfriend and Jiu-Jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente.
Tom and Gisele confirmed that they would divorce in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage.
The couple began dating shortly after Brady and the Brazilian model divorced in October 2022.
However, Brady tries to maintain a good relationship with his children. He also noted that Jack is 6-foot-5 and wants to pursue basketball despite not having the greatest vertical leap.
‘I tell him ‘Dude, you’re going to be a stud.’ Wait until you hit your growth spurt, you’ll jump higher and dive.”
“And whether I do it or not, who cares?” Brady continued. “I want him to know that his father has his back.”
‘My children will face their own challenges and they too will have to figure out how to overcome them. And I will be there to support them as much as my parents did. And I will be learning along the way along with them.”
