Tokyo Olympics: Tiny car meets Tiny BUS! Social media loves delivering match balls

Tiny car meets Tiny BUS! Social media is going nuts over the delivery of the Tokyo Games match ball in the opening match of Rugby 7s… as the catapult ‘converts’ via rooftop mini-posts to outperform the Euro 2020 version

Just when sports fans thought they had seen the back of Euro 2020’s ‘Tiny Car’, those watching the Tokyo Olympics were treated to the ‘Tiny Bus’ appearing for the Rugby 7s opener.

As host Japan prepared to beat Fiji in the first Rugby 7s match of the Games, the match ball was delivered in a less than traditional manner.

When the ‘Tiny Car’ stole the show at the European Football Championships, the ‘Tiny Bus’ went one step further and delivered the ball through a conversion from the roof to leave the viewers in awe.

‘SMALL RUGBY BUS, THIS IS NOT A DRILL,’ wrote one fan.

“Fans of little cars that deliver balls to sporting events cheer. The Rugby 7s Olympics has you covered,’ another added.

A Twitter user compared the Japanese ‘Tiny Bus’ as the ‘cousin’ to its car mate used at Euro 2020.

With no fans present at Tokyo Stadium, it proved to be a quiet affair until the bus showed up.

Volkswagen was behind the stunt at Euro 2020 and they were fast trending on Twitter as fans continued to marvel at their incredible pre-match stunt.

The car manufacturers were one of the sponsors of this summer’s European Championship, which took place in 11 cities.

Volskwagen’s tagline for the tournament was ‘We Drive Football’, which added an extra element of humor during the Stadio Olimpico stunt.

Its own version of the Olympics turned out to have no sponsor and with the smart robotics of a conversation through the messages, many were impressed by the innovation.

Team GB kicked off their Rugby 7s campaign against Canada on Monday morning and it turned out to be an impressive 24-0 win.
