Team GB’s Galal Yafai reached the men’s flyweight final on Thursday with a split decision victory over Kazakh fighter Saken Bibossinov.
The 28-year-old Brummie fighter stormed out of the blocks and won the first round decisively, with his opponent taking a stand in the opening minutes.
Still, Bibossinov recovered in the second round as both men fought bravely with a gold medal spot on the line and when it came to the scorecards, Yafai came out on top to reach Saturday’s showpiece.
