Team GB star Nick Miller takes third in the first round of hammer qualifier… as the Commonwealth champion takes on 45-year-old Ivan Tikhon – with fellow Brit Taylor Campbell to come
Nick Miller has moved up to third in the first round of the hammer qualifier at the Tokyo Olympics with a throw of 76.93, which is likely to put him in the final despite falling just short of the automatic qualifying standard.
The Team GB star will compete in Group A alongside Belarusian veteran Ivan Tikhon, 45, and fellow Brit Taylor Campbell will join Group B, which starts at 2.30am BST.
Commonwealth champion Miller, 28, is the British record holder and his first throw landed out of bounds, but he recovered well with his second throw.
