Today show reporter Brooke Boney surprised some viewers after they noticed she now appeared to be presenting the news with a polished British accent.
The veteran journalist, 37, announced earlier this year that she would be moving to England in September to study, and fans have joked that she appears to be taking public speaking lessons before moving.
‘What’s up with Brooke reading the news with the Queen’s accent? She never used to talk like that. “She sounds a little strange, some days she’s stronger than others,” asked a fan on the Media Spy forums.
‘It’s definitely new. “It’s like he’s gotten speech training or something in the last few months,” another viewer added.
‘I noticed it early last week. It’s usually pretty strong in the first sentence of whatever you’re reading.

Another fan suggested that Brooke was learning to speak with the British Received Pronunciation accent, before studying at Oxford University.
One upset viewer said the accent sounded fake and asked for Boney to go back to speaking in his normal voice.
—It sounds false. People put on that accent when they imitate the royal family or laugh. It’s the Today show, not ABC.
