Hoda Kotb was visibly horrified on Friday morning when her Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager displayed some rather bizarre behavior involving a pretzel live on air.
The duo was testing a new perfume from the American franchise. From Aunt Annewhich is a scent based on their famous buttered pretzel, when Jenna, a mother of three, decided to start rubbing herself with the doughy snack.
“It’s nice, like bread and butter,” Hoda, 60, commented after Jenna, 42, sprayed the fragrance on a crew member named Brian and told him, “I think it’s a masculine scent!”
“Is it weird that I don’t hate that?” Jenna commented, before shouting, “Of course I like carbs!” and then turning to Hoda and asking, “Is this what Paris smells like?” referring to her co-host’s recent trip to the French capital for the 2024 Summer Olympics.
When Hoda confirmed that the new perfume, called Knead, costs $25, Jenna decided to grab one of the snacks on the table, telling viewers, “Or you can just go to your local food court, get the pretzel and…” while Hoda urged her, “Don’t do it!”

Jenna, a mother of three, began furiously rubbing her bare arm with a fresh pretzel.
But it was too late, as the mother of three had already begun rubbing her left arm with the pretzel while dancing in her seat as the camera crew erupted in laughter and Hoda asked, “Who is this girl?”
The former First Daughter couldn’t stop laughing and told Hoda, “The best part is that you knew this was going to happen,” to which the TV host replied, “I knew it!”
While Jenna warned viewers at home, “Don’t do it,” Hoda quickly moved the conversation forward and the duo began discussing a beauty product launched by another food franchise, Chipotle.
“This is a big deal,” Hoda announced. “It’s a smudge-proof lip tint that fans can enjoy. It’s called Chipotle On The Go. You apply it and it turns green, and then you peel it off and it reveals the real color.”
Jenna chimed in: “And the point is, you can eat as many burritos as you want…” as they invited Today contributor Donna Farizan to the table to demo the new lip product.
“Do you need help?” Jenna asked Donna as she struggled to remove the green stain from her lips, before admitting, “I don’t think I moisturized enough!”
“I think you left it on too long,” Hoda suggested while Donna replied, “You’re supposed to leave it on for 30 to 60 seconds and I left it on for about 10 minutes!”
—So, they also say you can eat a burrito and it won’t come out, right? —Hoda asked as Jenna quickly jumped in and asked, —Do you want to try eating a pretzel? —to which Donna replied, —Not the one you rubbed on!
Hoda blurted out, “Who is this girl?” after seeing Jenna rub her bare skin with a pretzel.
Jenna sprayed Auntie Anne’s new pretzel perfume on a Today crew member named Brian.
Today’s contributor Donna Farizan was also spotted snacking on a pretzel while trying out a new lip product from Chipotle.
—But you know what, I’ll give myself a little bit… —Donna added as she grabbed a different pretzel and took a big bite to prove that the lip tint was staying.
This certainly isn’t the first time this week that Jenna has stunned her co-host and the Today team, as on Wednesday she revealed that she had broken a finger and had a black eye.
The two women were talking about cleaning up and not holding on to material things, when Jenna admitted, “So, I jumped in the ocean and lost my lucky necklace, okay? And since then some things have happened. I tripped, I got a black eye, I broke my ring finger… so some of you may be thinking, ‘Is she separating from her husband? ‘ No.”
Hoda gasped and asked, “Did you break it?” prompting Jenna to hold up her left hand so her co-host could inspect it and after doing so, she commented, “Oh, it’s still so big!” referring to the swelling.
Referring to her husband, Jenna replied: “Yeah, Henry says I just sprained it, but it was blue!” to which Hoda replied: “Well, it’s definitely fractured.”
“I have a little black eye… all this stuff happened right after I lost the necklace,” Jenna said.
