French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna will visit Saudi Arabia on June 8 to participate in the ministerial meeting of the international coalition to combat the Islamic State, a ministry spokeswoman announced Thursday.
“France stands by the international community to continue combating terrorism with firmness and determination, especially within the framework of the international coalition against ISIS,” Anne-Claire Legendre said in a press conference, referring to the Islamic State.
The spokeswoman said that the visit would be “an occasion for the minister to discuss our priorities and the continuation of our work.”
The coalition was established in 2014 to combat the jihadist organization. It is particularly involved in combating the financing of terrorism and combating foreign fighters, as well as providing assistance in stabilizing and reconstructing territories liberated from the grip of the Islamic State.
