The title and release date of filmmaker Ethan Coen’s upcoming film have been revealed.
Drive-away dummies will hit theaters on September 22, 2023, Focus Features and Working Title announced Monday. The comedic caper – which begins as the fall awards season gets underway – marks Coen’s first time directing a film on his own and without his old battle partner, brother Joel Coen.
Coen collaborated with Tricia Cooke on the film. They co-wrote the original script and co-produce with Robert Graf, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
Drive-away dummies with Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Pedro Pascal, Colman Domingo, Bill Camp and Matt Damon.
The story revolves around Jamie, an uninhibited free spirit lamenting yet another breakup with a friend, and her demure friend Marian who desperately needs some relaxation. Looking for a fresh start, the two embark on an impromptu road trip to Tallahassee, but things quickly go awry when they encounter a group of inept criminals along the way.
Focus will divide Drive-away dummies domestically, with parent company Universal Pictures handling the film overseas.
