Tina Knowles has denied her alleged response to Dolly Parton’s comments about Beyoncé being snubbed at the 2024 CMA Awards.
In an Instagram post that was later deleted from her account, the 70-year-old singer’s mother, the Texas Hold ‘Em singer, responded to Parton for saying that Beyoncé might not have been nominated because the “country music field” prioritized country artists who had been in the genre “their entire lives.”
The 78-year-old singer’s since-deleted initial response read: ‘Oh Miss Dolly, we love you, but Bey did spend her ENTIRE life working hard since she was 9. She also has country roots. She has mastered her craft and has broken records in EVERY genre. So to say she didn’t ‘spend her life’ in country music dismisses all the work she did.
“Bey doesn’t need to stay in one lane to get respect – her talent and work ethic speak for themselves! She’s been working hard and no one else is asked to ‘spend their life’ in one place to be recognized. #BeenCountry,” she said.
After receiving criticism on Thursday, Knowles claimed she did not post the message and wrote: “This is fake, this is not me” on another Instagram account. mail.

In defense of the CMA Awards, Parton said VarietyThere are so many wonderful country artists that I guess in the country music space they probably thought, “Well, we can’t really leave out some of the guys that spend their whole lives doing that.”
The Jolene singer added: “But I didn’t even realize that until someone asked me that question.”
Parton praised the hit record, calling Cowboy Carter “a wonderful album” that Beyoncé, 43, “can be very, very proud of.”

Parton said she didn’t feel like Beyoncé had been intentionally ignored for her foray into the country genre, which included a new version of her own song Jolene.
“I don’t think it was a matter of excluding herself, of doing it on purpose,” Parton said. “I think it was more about what the country music charts and country artists did, which was that they did it all the time, not just with one special album.”
Parton continued: “I’ve been lucky enough to be on both of those albums. Well, Jolene was on Beyoncé’s and I thought that was a great album.”
The Islands in the Stream artist cited Beyoncé’s background, saying, “She’s a country girl from Texas and Louisiana, so she grew up with that foundation. It wasn’t like she just came out of nowhere.”
Parton said she was “open to anything” in terms of a possible collaboration with Beyoncé.
