Hundreds of people have gathered to say their final farewells to a young mother who took her own life.

Timika Allen, a 26-year-old mother of four from Cairns in far north Queensland, died in hospital on Tuesday surrounded by family and friends, two days after suffering a self-inflicted injury.

Her death sparked an outpouring of tributes to a beautiful soul who brought so much love and light to the lives of all who knew her.

About 250 people gathered at her hospital bedside on Tuesday to bid farewell to Ms Allen after she was taken off life support.

“We kept her alive long enough for everyone to see her,” said her maternal grandmother, Shirley Tognol. Cairns Post.

“She was loved, everyone loved Timeka.”

Ms Allen is understood to have been involved in a dispute with a state government department at the time of her death, which has since sparked anger in the local Indigenous community, the publication reported.
