Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has reportedly cited two third-degree assault cases.

Edwards allegedly picked up a folding chair and swung it, hitting two women running in the game, after Minnesota’s elimination loss to the Nuggets in Game 5 on Tuesday, according to The Guardian. Denver Sports.

The two employees reportedly sustained non-critical injuries and were asked to file charges against the 21-year-old, the Denver Police Department told the outlet.

The striker missed the last shot that would have tied game 5, sent it into overtime, and rushed off the field and down the tunnel.

Edwards picked up a chair and swung it, hitting a security guard in the back, before hitting the chair again, according to Jay Casillas of the Denver Police Department.

The NBA telecast appears to have caught Edwards running into the tunnel, grabbing a chair and swinging.

Denver police reportedly delayed the Timberwolves’ team bus from leaving in order to issue a third-degree assault citation to Edwards.

The NBA star could face up to 18 months in prison and/or a fine of up to $1,000 under Colorado law. He was summoned to appear in court in June.

The organization issued a Brief statement Wednesday afternoon, which read: “We are aware of the alleged incident involving Anthony Edwards after Game 5 in Denver and are gathering more information. We have no further comment at this moment.

Edwards was the first overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft and just finished his third season with the Timberwolves.

In the regular season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game and scored 31.6 points per game during the Timberwolves’ 4-1 series loss to the Nuggets.

The Coyotes were eliminated by the Nuggets with a 112-109 straight loss in Game 5 of the first round playoffs.

Edwards, who led Minnesota with 29 points, hit the iron back on a 27-foot 3-point attempt at the buzzer that would have sent the game into overtime.
