Anthony Edwards fined $100,000 for using 'blasphemous language' during an interview

NBA star Anthony Edwards has been fined $100,000 by the league for using “profane language” during an interview following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ win over the Houston Rockets on Friday night.

During Edwards’ on-field interview, the Team USA security guard says the phrase “F*** it” and says “s***” twice in the span of about 10 seconds.

This is the seventh time Edwards has been fined in his NBA career and the fourth time this season, pushing up the amount for using the swear words.

“All I knew was that the play for Julius Randle was going to be 14, a big-little pick-and-roll,” Edwards said. “As soon as he picked it up, I had to go get it, dammit. And (Nickeil Alexander-Walker) found me, he interrupted me. I’m like, “S***, I’m going for the win.” As Gilbert Arenas said, “I don’t work overtime,” so f*** it!’

It is also Edward’s second fine of the week, as he was fined $75,000 on Monday for publicly criticizing officials.

The amount of $100,000 is the maximum fine allowed under the competition rules.

Two weeks ago, Edwards was fined $25,000, also for swearing during an interview.

The large amount of money Edwards is owed outraged some fans as they only used swear words.

“Soft league,” said one NBA fan.

“100,000 for telling the truth?”

“The NBA can’t actually be that soft.”

Last month, Edwards gave the middle finger to fans in Sacramento, prompting a $35,000 fine from the NBA.

That incident occurred after he had an argument with officials over a violation. A frustrated Edwards returned to the bench when he appeared to hear something from the crowd and responded with a hand gesture.
