So it’s no surprise that this generation is celebrated on TikTok for their enthusiastic dance moves.
In recent weeks, the hashtag #80sdancechallenge has been used in more than 10,000 videos and has racked up millions of views.
As part of the viral trend, millennial kids are performing Bronski Beat’s 1984 hit Smalltown Boy and asking their parents to show them how they danced in the ’80s.
At the beginning of this year, TikTok user Ethan Baylin She went viral when she got her mother on board with the trend.

Although she was apprehensive at first, Ethan’s mother, who was wearing a gray jumpsuit and white socks, began to dance.
As she became more involved in the dance, she raised her arms in the air and did a spin for the camera.
The video has accumulated more than 7 million views and more than 500,000 people have liked it.
One fan responded: “I love this trend because at first you can see their age but as soon as they start dancing they look so much younger.”
Another added: “Ahh she loves the memories.”
A third said: “Seeing this trend, I think everyone’s parents danced the exact same way.”
And what is more, Phoebe TikToker – who has 670,000 followers on the account he shares with his father Paul – was also quick to join the trend.
She captioned her video: “Nice to see his moves haven’t changed in 40 years…”

TikToker Meg from the United Kingdom also joined the trend and asked her mother (pictured) to dance while she stared at the threshold of her room.
The 20-second video begins with Paul snapping his fingers before becoming increasingly involved in the song.
As the viral video, which has racked up more than 236,000 likes, comes to an end, Paul moves back and forth and raises his arms to the beat.
Asda’s official TikTok commented: “The way he started off shy and then got into it.”
Another added: ‘I still have game!!’
“I dance the same way,” wrote a third. ‘We all do it at that time!’

In May, TikTok user Alexis uploaded a video of her uncle dancing to Smalltown Boy.
After staring at the camera for a few seconds, Alexis’ relative began dancing animatedly, which included stomping her feet and moving her shoulders.
The bearded guy, who was wearing jeans and a black jacket, ends the video by stepping from side to side and turning his back to the camera.
Alexis captioned the clip: “I told my uncle to dance like he did in the ’80s.”
One fan responded: ‘Always the smiles along with the dancing that make me recoil!’ Another added: ‘Go get it man!’
Meanwhile, TikToker Meg, from the UK, also joined the trend and asked her mother to dance while she stood in the doorway of her room.
Although unsure at first, the mother, dressed in a white vest and striped sweatpants, quickly developed an arm movement and began moving from side to side before raising her hands.
One fan responded: “I love how she started smiling like she remembered something from back then… like who she or someone was.” She is beautiful!’
