It was the era of big hairstyles, fluorescent fashion and Walkmans, but the 80s are also remembered as one of the golden eras of music.

So it’s no surprise that this generation is celebrated on TikTok for their enthusiastic dance moves.

In recent weeks, the hashtag #80sdancechallenge has been used in more than 10,000 videos and has racked up millions of views.

As part of the viral trend, millennial kids are performing Bronski Beat’s 1984 hit Smalltown Boy and asking their parents to show them how they danced in the ’80s.

At the beginning of this year, TikTok user Ethan Baylin She went viral when she got her mother on board with the trend.

The 20-second video begins with Paul snapping his fingers before becoming increasingly involved in the song.

As the viral video, which has racked up more than 236,000 likes, comes to an end, Paul moves back and forth and raises his arms to the beat.

Asda’s official TikTok commented: “The way he started off shy and then got into it.”

In May, TikTok user Alexis uploaded a video of her uncle dancing to Smalltown Boy.

After staring at the camera for a few seconds, Alexis’ relative began dancing animatedly, which included stomping her feet and moving her shoulders.

The bearded guy, who was wearing jeans and a black jacket, ends the video by stepping from side to side and turning his back to the camera.

Alexis captioned the clip: “I told my uncle to dance like he did in the ’80s.”
