TikTok star Rochelle Hager, 31, dies after tree branch falls on her car in ‘freak accident’

A 31-year-old Maine woman who had 123,000 followers on TikTok and earned over 1.2 million likes on her comedy videos died after 50 mph winds knocked a pine branch on the roof of her 2015 Nissan Rogue. on Monday.

Rochelle Hager, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene of what local detectives in Central Maine are calling a freak accident Monday morning.

Hager was driving south just before 10 a.m. when the branch of a pine tree broke due to strong gusts of wind.

The limb landed directly on the roof of her car and likely killed her instantly, police said Lewiston Sun Journal

Neighbors called authorities after the incident, which took place near 833 Knowlton Corner Road in Farmington.

Police closed the lane for more than two hours while investigating.

The tree branch was blown off the tree by the wind and then hit power lines, breaking a nearby utility pole.

Hager was the only one in the car at the time of the accident. No one else was hurt.

Farmington Police Chief Kenneth Charles said the accident was “tragic and unique.”

Charles said the accident was “clearly the direct result of today’s high winds” and there was “nothing she could do to avoid it.”

According to local reports, the area was hit by strong gusts of wind at 80 km / h.

At noon Monday, at least 2,000 Central Maine-based customers reported having no electricity.

Brittanie Lynn, Hager’s partner who is also a TikTok star with some 297,000 followers, posted several tributes to her on the social media platform on Monday.

“Thank you for showing me what true love is,” wrote Lynn. “Rest easy, my love.”

The video included a montage of the couple.

‘I lost the love of my life today. Thank you for being my everything and thank you to everyone for your support, ”she wrote.

‘Rest easy, my love. I don’t know what it was like [sic] going to live without you. But we have the best guardian angel to help us through it.

Who knew forever would end so quickly? How can I live without you in my life? ‘

Lynn has also shared videos of her crying while looking at photos of her memories with Hager.

The couple was thought to be engaged as Lynn often wore a band on her ring finger in TikTok videos.

Lynn is a mother of two boys and often shared photos of them spending time with Hager as a family.
