A TikTok star has revealed that her hairline becomes microbladed to boost her confidence after her birth control pills caused her hair to fall out.

Hannah Jarrah, 20, from Huntington Beach, California, opened her first of four sessions in one video earlier this week to show what her hair area looked like before and after the treatment.

‘I get a microblade in my hair today. Yes, you heard that right. Hairline. Microbladed. It’s like what they do on the eyebrows, but here they will do it too, ”she said, pointing to the top of her head.

Microblading simulates the appearance of hair through deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments under the first layer of skin.

While the treatment is usually done on sparse eyebrows, a growing number of people are asking to have it done on their heads to strengthen their receding hairlines.

Microblading can cost anywhere from $ 700 to $ 2,000 per treatment, depending on the size of the area, but Hannah was excited to report it would take about three years.

Let me tell you why I’m doing this. So basically birth control got my hair done, ‘she explained, sharing a photo of the thinning hair on top of her scalp.

Birth control can cause hair loss in women who are sensitive to the hormones in the pill or who have a history of hormone-related hair loss, according to Healthline

It causes hair to move from the anagen (growth) phase to the telogen (resting) phase too quickly and for too long, which can lead to large amounts of hair falling out. This type of hair loss is known as telogen effluvium.

“It’s getting a lot better, but it’s still something I’m really insecure about,” Hannah told her 583,000 followers of her hair loss.

‘It’s actually a huge achievement for me that I even talk about it on the internet because it’s something I’ve kept to myself for a long time. But heard about this treatment and I thought it would be perfect for me. ‘

Hannah shared images of herself getting the treatment and under a red light when it was done. She explained that she won’t be able to wash her hair for three days, but she promised to keep her fans informed.

However, she seemed impressed with the results when she showed her hairline in front of the camera.

So my hair looks now dark black because it still has ink in it, ”she said. “But that’s what it looks like now.”

A number of women responded to the video saying that the same had happened to them and that they are plagued with insecurity.

‘You made me feel less alone. I struggle with the same thing and my hair looks the same. Thank you for your vulnerability, ‘one person wrote.

‘To the girls out there with hair like mine. I KNOW how easy it is to mentally beat yourself up, ”Hannah replied. ‘I promise you that you are beautiful and that you will never really feel confident about your hair until you learn to love it the way it is.

“And if you choose to do something like this in the future, let it come out of love,” she added.
