Australia’s biggest names in social media gathered for the TikTok Awards on Wednesday night.

“The TikTok Awards has to be the most ridiculous thing ever,” one person wrote on X during the live stream on Binge.
“The Tiktok awards are the most embarrassing thing, but at the same time they entertain me a lot,” another commented.
“The Australian TikTok Awards are a joke,” one added before asking: “And why is JoJo Siwa performing?”

Bridey Drake won TikTok Creator of the Year at the 2024 Awards in Sydney.
The 23-year-old has amassed over 3.2 million followers on TikTok by documenting her hilariously relatable experiences of navigating young adulthood in Australia.
Her videos detail the ups and downs of starting her own small business, Night Sweet Thing, fresh out of high school with her best friend Jiny Maeng during the height of the pandemic, as well as the duo’s move from New South Wales to the outback. .
Now for Bridey’s decidedly ordinary escapades, including going viral for his lack of culinary skills in videos like ‘What the Hell is an Ounce?’ – has earned him the coveted award.
True to form, the petite blonde detailed her experience preparing for the awards show on social media while suffering from a gnarly pink sunburn.
“Turns out I won,” he began his video montage of the day’s events.
“I started by going on the pink carpet and doing a bunch of interviews. I didn’t feel better. I felt like I wasn’t on my best game because I have a sunburn and a strapless dress.’
“At this point in the day I had no idea I was going to win,” Bridey recounted images of herself sweltering during the Sydney heatwave.
Many viewers were unimpressed by the 2024 ceremony and took to X to express their disappointment.
“I bought this white top and put it under,” she explained, while putting on a long-sleeved lace shirt to hide her fresh sunburn lines.
‘My best friend Jiny, she knows everyone, she’s the best. I love the TikTok awards, I’ve been there for four years in a row. Also, Robert (Irwin) came out with a snake and scared everyone.’
His camera panned to show Robert surprising and delighting the crowd of influencers with a live python, which he escorted around the tables to meet and greet them.
‘And then the moment came when they announced my name (as the winner). Jiny shouted. I cried. My cousin cried. It was the wildest experience of my life. I actually went blank on stage, I have no idea what I said during my speech, I was so nervous.’
Bridey is the fourth Australian to win TikTok’s top honor since the social media awards began in 2021, following in the footsteps of Mille Ford, Kat Clark and, most recently, ‘chaotic’ mother-of-three Indy Clinton .
“This is a great honor, winning this award means a lot as TikTok has played a huge role in my current situation.” “Everything I have accomplished as a business creator and owner has been possible thanks to this incredible platform,” Bridey said in her speech.
‘I am also very grateful to my amazing TikTok community who have been by my side since this journey began.
‘I can’t wait to continue creating, connecting and sharing. “Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”
