Tiffany Haddish recently opened up about her former romance with Common and revealed whether she’s bothered by him moving on with Jennifer Hudson.
The comedian weighed in on her ex’s new relationship while promoting her new memoir I Curse You With Joy at the Making space with Hoda Kotb this week’s podcast.
When asked if Common was in her book, the Girls Trip star joked, “There’s a lot of common men in there,” prompting some laughter from Kotb, before clarifying, “But he’s not there.”
The Los Angeles native added, “I’ve learned that you don’t have to have everyone in your story.” Let them tell it.
“It was a great relationship,” he confessed about Common, and then reiterated: “That was a great relationship.”

From there, Kotb wanted to know if she was upset that Common (born Lonnie Rashid Lynn) moved to Hudson after their romance ended.
“No, I love Jennifer Hudson,” Haddish quickly responded, and then proceeded to offer her well wishes. ‘I hope you are having fun. Girl please.’
Haddish, 44, met Common, 52, when they co-starred in the film The Kitchen (2019), although their relationship initially remained platonic.
They would end up taking things to the next level in August 2020 when they started dating.
But then, seemingly aimlessly, the rapper broke up with Haddish in 2021.
“It was weird how it ended,” Haddish said, before using a metaphor to explain what happened: “Do you remember when you were a kid and you were on a play date and you were playing and having a good time?”
‘And then all of a sudden you go down a slide and you turn around and say, “Where did they go?” she shared. “And you see them waving at you and their mom picks them up and they say, ‘Bye-bye.'”
“I thought, hey, we were playing and having fun,” the Afterparty star continued. ‘Why did you leave the fun? I don’t know.’

Haddish made it clear that there was no bad blood with Common over his romance with Hudson, 42; The couple is pictured in September 2017, when things were still platonic.
Haddish maintained that the former couple had quietly separated as of August 2021.
“It wasn’t mutual,” he said. Washington Post of their breakup. “It was more like him saying, ‘I think this relationship has run its course.’
Common and Hudson star together in the sci-fi thriller Breathe, which opened in limited theaters on April 26.
Directed by Stefon Bristol, who worked from a script by Doug Simon, the cast also includes Milla Jovovich, Quvenzhané Wallis, Sam Worthington, Raúl Castillo and Dan Martin.
The celebrity couple first sparked romance rumors in 2022 when they were reportedly spotted together in Philadelphia and Chicago, as reported by People.
After more speculation the following year, the couple ended up confirming their relationship when Common appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show last January.
Haddish has been busy promoting her new memoir I Curse You With Joy
As part of promoting her new book I Curse You With Joy, Haddish showed off her ability to provoke thoughts with a big dose of attitude in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on May 11.
“I’m in a relationship with one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met in my life,” the Chicago, Illinois, native said, without mentioning the talk show host, actress and singer’s name. “She’s smart, she loves God, she’s got something really sensible about her: she’s talented.”
Haddish’s new book, I Curse You With Joy, a collection of essays, was officially released in March and was then followed by the hardcover version on May 7.
