Throw out the high-heeled pumps! These are the six fashion trends you'll be wearing in 2025 - and you might already have them in your wardrobe

For most of us, January means big coats and cozy sweaters, all style dictates thrown out the window as we recover from the holiday season.

However, fashion never stops, and those who know it have already turned their attention to the new season trends that will revolutionize our wardrobe for the next year.

First the bad news. The spring/summer runways focused on bold looks: single-leg pants at Louis Vuitton; Carrie Bradshaw-style tutu skirts at Simone Rocha; dresses so sheer they show your panties at Fendi.

Fortunately, more wearable trends are also on the way, examples of which you’ll already own. Bold prints are back, so now’s the time to dust off anything with leopard spots or plaid.

Slimmer jeans are replacing ultra-wide styles (yay!). And if your feet are still recovering from party high heels, you’ll be happy to know that sneakers are what you should pair with dresses this season.

Of course, the start of a new year doesn’t mean you need a whole new wardrobe. If you’re looking for a style update for 2025, here are five fashion trends that can easily be copied from the runway.

romantic blouses

As for tops, the style to highlight is a romantic blouse. Balloon sleeves, ruffles, lace and bows are championed by brands like Saint Laurent and Chanel. Think one part Stevie Nicks, one part Adam Ant.

If there’s one piece that will update your weekend and work wardrobe alike, it’s this one. Me + Em’s Floral Bow Blouse (£175, meandem.com) would look just as good with a knitted midi dress and heeled boots as it does with jeans and flats.

Wear Albaray’s embroidered turtleneck blouse (pictured) under a knit tank top or pair it with a denim midi skirt and sandals in warmer weather.

The bohemian bag

Last year’s bohemian trend isn’t going away. In fact, the upcoming season has a decidedly free-spirited vibe with Chloe, Gabriela Hearst and Proenza Schouler all pushing a ’70s vibe.

This trend really picks up steam in the summer. However, now you can incorporate it into your everyday wardrobe with a bohemian and elegant bag.

Channel your inner Sienna Miller in a slouchy suede style. Russell & Bromley’s spacious tan tote bag (pictured) fits everyday essentials and is luxurious enough for the office.

The Mint Velvet Fringe Shoulder Bag (£150, mintvelvet.com) can be worn over a shearling coat and jeans at the weekend.

Beautiful green

Call it the Wicked effect: fashion has fallen in love with green. Sage, khaki, and olive are just the ticket to updating your wardrobe staples.

With Nothing Underneath, the green striped shirt (£120, with Nothingunderneath.com) will liven up work trousers.

Brighten up the denim with a vibrant knit like John Lewis’ wool V-neck (£49, johnlewis.com). Or try these faux leather pants from Phase Eight.

Polka dots

From leopard spots to gingham and bold florals, bold prints are making waves.

Topping the list are polka dots, as seen at Valentino, Carolina Herrera and Marc Jacobs, to name just a few.

Just a pinch of dots will inject a new season vibe into your everyday look. Try layering Sezane’s navy and cream silk shirt (£115, sezane.com) under a tailored pantsuit.

Or go head-to-toe in a long, spotted dress. Boden’s navy blue style (pictured) can be worn during the day with a sweater and sneakers, and then in the evening with sandals and large earrings.

spring shine

From bejeweled macs at Erdem to shimmery jackets at Valentino and Gucci’s disco ball skirt suit, spring’s sparkle is big news.

Consider this permission to continue wearing your party clothes into the new year. The Team M&S Sequin Bomber Jacket (£79, marksandspencer.com) with jeans; layer a cozy knit over Busby & Fox’s sparkly skirt (pictured). What better way to beat the January blues?

If you fancy a touch of sparkle, up the ante on your everyday earrings with V by Laura Vann’s topaz hoops (£110, vbylauravann.com).

Or wear the Tilly Sveeas Jeweled T-Bar Necklace (£120,tillysveeas.co.uk) to glam up a simple top.

skinny jeans

As for what shape of jeans should we wear now? Narrower silhouettes have replaced the ultra-wide styles that have dominated recent seasons.

Whistles’ Stretch Barrel Leg Jeans (£95, whistles.co.uk) will be the cult style you need to know. For a street-chic option, check out Baukjen’s authentic barrel legs (pictured).

Classic straight cuts were a hit at Coach and Moschino. Get in on the act with the M&S Sienna style (£39.50, marksandspencer.com), which has a high waist to tuck in tops.
