Florida police issued a $ 5,000 reward for information after three men were killed in a “ bloodbath ” while fishing while one of the men managed to call his father and call “ help ” shortly before he died.
Damion Tillman, 23; Keven Springfield, 30; and Brandon Rollins, 27, were described by their families as having been best friends for years and all died in the attack on Friday night.
The three men were fishing in a popular lake in Frostproof, 70 miles south of Orlando in central Florida.
Tillman first traveled to Lake Streety and arrived alone, according to Grady Judd, Sheriff of Polk County.
Three men were killed on Friday night by Lake Streety in Frostproof, Florida
When Rollins and Springfield arrived shortly after, Tillman was beaten by unknown attackers, and the two friends intervened to help Tillman and were shot.
Rollins called his father on Friday around 10 p.m. and only said “help.”
The father jumped into his car and went where his son said he was going to fish.
“When he arrived, he noticed that his son Brandon was barely alive and his two friends died,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.
“Brandon has been able to say a few things to his father that we are not disclosing at this time.”
Rollins’ father had left his home without his cell phone, so he returned to a nearby gas station and called 911, the sheriff said.
When the authorities came to the scene, all three men were dead.
Polk Country Sheriff Grady Judd said the ‘horrific’ scene was one of the worst he’d seen
“This is a horrifying scene,” said Judd.
“I’ve seen many murder scenes in my life and this is one of the worst I’ve ever been.”
The sheriff said they believed there was more than one murderer and that the victims knew their killers.
‘We are looking for leads; we need help so we can solve this crime sooner than later, because there are one or more, we suspected, murderers who killed three people in a quiet community, “he said.
Judd added that the suspect or suspects may have known the men.
“You’re not just tripping here,” he said.
“It’s not that there are many people here.
“As you can see, they are cow pastures and lakes.”
