Three gang rapists who lured a drunken Brit to a park and subjected her to a brutal four-hour ordeal before she could escape are sentenced to eight years in prison in Spain

Three men have been found guilty of the repeated gang rape of a British tourist in Benidorm.

They were sentenced to eight and a half years in prison each after being found guilty of the horrific crime following a trial at a court in Alicante, southeastern Spain.

The three judges concluded that the men had raped their victim twice in just four hours: the first time in a park near a football pitch in the Costa Blanca resort and the second time in a wasteland near from the El Cisne flea market.

They raped her after approaching her near a pub where she was drinking and took her to a secluded area where they sexually assaulted her.

The judges ruled that they had taken advantage of the fact that she was under the influence of alcohol to commit their sex crimes. The victim was described as being in a “semi-conscious” state at the time.

She managed to escape after being taken to the second location where she was raped and alerted her mother when she returned to her hotel.

The convicts, a Spaniard and two Moroccans aged 24 to 34, were not named in anticipation of a possible appeal.

Prosecutors said they were seeking prison terms of just over 12 years for each of the three men during their trial in November last year at the Audiencia Provincial Court in Alicante.

A court official said before the trial: “State prosecutors are seeking prison sentences of twelve years and three months for three men accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a woman.

He added: “According to prosecutors, they started a conversation with the young woman in a pub in Benidorm and, taking advantage of her drunken state, took her to a nearby park where they raped her before drive into a wasteland where they repeated their crimes

“The victim fled the scene as soon as she could, but before she did, the men allegedly stole a watch and ring worth £365.

All three men admitted to having sex with the British tourist, but insisted it was consensual.

The horrific gang rape happened in the early hours of October 2, 2016.

In addition to being convicted of sexual assault, the rapists were also convicted of theft.

The judges, who delivered their verdict in a lengthy written judgment, described the victim’s account of what happened as “credible”, although her memory was affected by alcohol.

Other evidence, including a 999 call from a witness who saw a woman walking half-naked along a road near where the second series of rapes took place, was also taken into account. account.

Last October, police arrested two men for the rape of a British tourist near Benidorm in connection with another ongoing case.

Detectives revealed the holidaymaker was sexually assaulted after agreeing to pay two men who offered to take her back to her hotel in their car for POUNDS 13 while she waited for a taxi in the popular Costa Blanca resort .

She was allegedly raped at the home of one of the suspects after falling asleep in the back of the vehicle.

The men, both Algerian nationals aged 39 and 44, were detained pending an ongoing investigation.

One of them was also wanted for a violent robbery two days before the sexual assault in Villajoyosa, near Benidorm.
