Thousands of people slammed the bride and groom for being tacky and stingy after a hungry guest revealed what was on the menu at their very formal wedding

Wedding guests attending the formal event were shocked when they were offered instant ramen after the invitation asked them to choose between fish and chicken.

A couple was left hungry and disappointed after being invited to a formal wedding and then directed to a down-home ramen bar for dinner.

The couple said they were instructed to dress in formal attire for the event and were asked to choose between chicken and fish for dinner on their RSVP.

“We got dressed up,” the disappointed couple wrote in a post on Reddit.

So when it came time for the reception, they couldn’t believe that instead of their fancy chicken meal there was a self-service instant ramen noodle bar.

“Just instant ramen, diced ham, some vegetables here and there and bags of chips for kids. And to top it off, they brought their own drinks too,” the shocked couple said.

The wedding guests skipped dinner expecting a banquet at the reception, but instead they were starving and had to buy their own fast food.

“I’ve been to a lot of weddings. I’m not a snob, far from it. But that wedding was the most vulgar I’ve ever been to in my life,” she said.

People were quick to judge the couple and many criticised them for being so stingy.

Wedding guests attending the formal event were shocked when they were offered instant ramen after the invitation asked them to choose between fish and chicken.

“Sounds like the kind of wedding where you pick up the gift on the way out,” one person said.

People said that while a casual ramen bar might work for a low-key wedding, when it comes to a formal celebration the food should fit the occasion.

“This all makes me very sad and disappointed. There is no excuse for your guests to leave hungry! It doesn’t have to be five-star cuisine, but you are creating expectations when you ask for formal attire,” said one woman.

Others thought the couple simply wanted to get expensive gifts by inviting people to what they described as a very formal wedding without feeding them properly.

“This sounds like an attempt to extract money. Unfortunately, I have attended a wedding like this,” said one woman.

Some people thought the only explanation for this behavior was that something had gone wrong with the catering.

“I need to believe the vendor had a catastrophic event hours before the reception or else I won’t be able to make it with the bride and groom,” one woman said.

But the couple insisted that serving ramen to some guests was not a mistake.

It turned out that another group of guests from the inner circle were treated to a proper wedding meal, while the rest had to make do with noodles.

People were outraged because there was a different level of guests who were served better food than others.

“They had a class system at their wedding,” one woman said.

“Wow! What a bad face, how rude,” said a man.

Some people took a more relaxed attitude to the wedding invitation, which asked for preference between chicken and fish and then offered ramen.

“Chicken and fish are legitimate ramen flavors,” one man said.

“They were just curious about what you liked, they didn’t offer you those options,” another man joked.

Others had some wise advice that they followed whenever they attended a wedding.

“I always stop and get fast food before a wedding. You never know how long it will be until you eat or what you’ll be served,” one woman said.

The thread was reposted on Facebook pages critical of weddings, where people were equally horrified.
