Thomas Tuchel says Chelsea want to use Saturday’s clash with Fulham to ‘set the tone’ for their all-or-nothing Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.

Tuchel insisted on Friday that his players will not hold back on Saturday just because this Premier League match is between two legs in the European elite competition.

That’s bad news for Fulham, who might have hoped Chelsea’s focus on Real would have helped them.

Chelsea can solidify their position in the top four on Saturday with a victory that gives them six points ahead of fifth-placed West Ham.

“Just being strong in the last game won’t help you in the next game,” said Tuchel. ‘This is what I am very excited and happy about with the team.

‘They are always ready. Even now where you might think, “Aren’t they distracted?” or: “Are they in between two semifinals?” They are not. It’s the opposite. They quit.

‘They come in in a good mood. Everyone had a very good training at a high level yesterday and today.

‘That’s what it’s about. We have to set the tone again and prove again that we are difficult to play against. ‘
