Thomas Tuchel accused the referee of not penalizing Gabriel for collecting the ball in the area because it was a “childish mistake” as two controversial penalties left both sides frustrated.
In the 66th minute, David Raya gave a goal kick to Gabriel who had then touched the ball with his hand. But referee Glenn Nyberg let play continue in an incident that was not broadcast live on television.
“For me, for all of us, he (the referee) made a big mistake by not awarding the penalty for handball,” Tuchel said.
“I know it’s a crazy situation, but they leave the ball on the ground, he whistles, gives the ball and the defender (Gabriel) takes the ball in his hand.
‘What really angers us is the explanation on the field. He told our players that it is a “childish mistake” and that he will not call a penalty like this in the quarterfinals.

‘This is a horrible, horrible explanation. He is judging handball. Child’s mistake, adult’s mistake. Whatever. “We feel angry because it is a huge decision against us.”
TNT Sports analyzed the incident after the match and pundit Rio Ferdinand said: “It’s a pen, my God.” How can that not happen?

Later in the match, tied 2-2, Bukayo Saka went down in the 93rd minute after his right leg touched Manuel Neuer, the goalkeeper having run out of his goal.
Nyberg signaled for play to continue, and at the end of the match, a furious Saka approached the match referee as he walked off the field.
Experts Rio Ferdinand and Martin Keown were furious with the decision after the final whistle.
