A tiny restaurant tucked away near Spice Alley in Chippendale is wowing Sydneysiders with dishes of the freshest handmade pasta – and from just $10 a plate.
Str’-eats by Olio draws crowds seeking perfect plates of authentic Sicilian-style pasta at prices people love, and is already calling it pasta heaven.
A recent video Kensington Road posted on TikTok showing the new pasta bar has already gone viral with a million views.
This cosy and relaxed restaurant is the brainchild of Chef Lino, from sister restaurant Olio, who transports Australians straight back to the old country with his rustic and affordable dishes.
The pasta is made fresh daily and people can choose their flavor combination from seven different handmade pastas and pasta sauces, such as puttanesca and Siciliana.
Pasta is cooked to order in front of customers and then piled onto convenient paper plates for casual, relaxed Italian-style dining.
The pasta sauce with aglio e olio (a rustic finish with olive oil and garlic with a hint of chili and herbs) starts at just $10 a plate.
The wagyu ragu, which is served with thick ribbons of pappardelle and topped with a generous layer of parmesan, has been described as rich and delicious by fans.
Str’eats by Olio in Chippendale is the smaller, casual sister restaurant to Olio.
Customers can choose from seven different types of handmade pasta that can be cooked in seven different sauces, all prepared to order.
The creamy shrimp and zucchini rigatoni and the Franchio Mafalde with spicy pork ndjua and spanner crab were also rated as “must try.”
Str’eats also offers a hearty shredded beef lasagna layered with melted cheese for $14 and an Italian sandwich filled with mortadella, stracciatella, eggplant and spicy mayo for $16.
Fans are definitely leaving room for one of two house-made desserts, the cream-filled Sicilian cannolo and a coffee-infused tiramisu, both $12.
People have been raving about this popular little gem since it opened its doors in May of this year.
“The food was very good and cheap… the pasta tasted freshly made and I’ve never had such good pasta before,” one man said.

The lively Chippendale restaurant has a loyal following looking for fresh pasta at affordable prices.
“You have to try the tiramisu! It was so good I could have eaten five of them,” added the happy diner.
“Do you deliver to the Philippines?” another man joked.
Some customers complained that portions were a bit small and wait times could be up to 40 minutes during busy periods.
But others still called this their favorite pasta place, especially because everything was so fresh, cheap, and handmade.
Str’eats has outdoor seating and offers takeout and BYOB and is open every day of the week.
“This is my kind of food,” one man said.
