Deciding which video game to play next can be a daunting task, especially on a huge platform such as Steam. But Valve is working to relieve those fears with a new Steam Labs experiment that it is called Play next, an interactive recommendation system that suggests new games to try.
Play Next uses machine learning – the same for Steam’s Interactive Recommender – to choose three games based on what you already own. If nothing interests you, you can choose new choices again. The system is still in progress. “Don’t be surprised if it sometimes shows you unexpected comparison points,” Valve says.
It is an easy-to-use system that quickly answers “what now?” Maybe this can help to alleviate some of those guilt feelings about all those forgotten games that you picked up years ago in that Steam sale.
