Wrexham Hollywood owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have enjoyed their team’s promotion to League One.
The Red Dragons secured back-to-back promotions after thrashing League Two strugglers Forest Green 6-0 at the Racecourse Ground.
And McElhenney, who was watching from Los Angeles, couldn’t contain his excitement as he took to social media.
He wrote in X: Hi @m_griffiths92, I noticed you’re reading tweets. My son and I just wanted to say hello from Los Angeles. What a nice day, huh?
He then added: ‘Speechless’, with a heart emoji once the promotion was officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, Reynolds wrote: “A few years ago if you told me I would cry with joy at a football match being held in North Wales you would be Rob McElhenney.”
‘Congratulations to Wrexham and my criminal co-chair. Double the city! This is the trip of our lives.’
Phil Parkinson’s men were aware that a victory against bottom side Forest Green would secure them a second successive promotion.
And victory came in emphatic fashion, with Wrexham going into half-time with a 4-0 lead thanks to Elliot Lee’s goal, Paul Mullin’s brace and an own goal from Ryan Inniss.
The second half continued in similar fashion, featuring Ryan Barnett and Jack Marriott. adding two more goals to start the celebration party.
Wrexham fans took to social media to express their delight at the feat and express their gratitude to the Hollywood owners.
Mail Sport’s Nathan Salt wrote on X: One of the best things about the Wrexham promotion is that it hasn’t been a one-man show, it takes everyone.
“Elliot Lee brought the goals for months, recent winners from Fletcher, Cannon, Cleworth, Mendy, Barnett, Palmer, Evans, Young, Bolton, so many contributions.”
