If you’re not physically attractive, children and “old people” will tell you directly, according to thousands of people on Reddit who listed the signs of “ugliness” in 2024.
In one passionate thread, people listed all the signs that people may be conventionally unattractive, and even tips for determining if you fit the unfortunate label.
Many agreed that if children comment on your appearance in a negative way, then that is a key warning sign.
“My mother is a nurse and she tried to calm a little girl down, but the little girl just screamed, ‘DON’T TOUCH ME, YOU UGLY WITCH,’ and proceeded to be nice to the doctor,” one woman wrote.
Another said a seven-year-old girl pointed at her friend and told her she was “prettier.”
If you’re not physically attractive, kids and “older” people will just tell you so, according to people on Reddit who looked at signs that suggest people aren’t “nice” looking.
A former childcare worker said she had also received mean comments from children.
‘I used to work in a daycare and the kids called me pepperoni face. It was eight years ago and I don’t have acne anymore, but I still think about it a lot,” she said.
The men admitted that they had done it too.
“My nephew said I looked like an egg when I took my hat off,” said one man.
Older people are also likely to be brutally honest when it comes to the appearance of others.
“I once had an old lady talking about all the good-looking men in a room and then she looked at me and asked me what happened to my face and if someone had cut me,” one man said.

One woman chimed in with a story about her tall husband being embarrassed by an equally forceful old woman.
‘She asked him bluntly if he hits women. He was shocked and said no, he didn’t. She said, “Well, you look like that,” he said.
Others had different examples.
“When you post a photo and people comment that you’re brave, it means you’re not attractive,” one woman said.
“When the bus is full but there’s no one sitting next to you,” another woman wrote.
“Make friends online, plan a meeting in real life and as soon as you exchange photos so you can recognize each other in person, you will be fooled,” wrote another.
If no one talks to you when you leave the house, it could be a sign that you are not attractive.
Other examples included: When people never pay attention to you, when people only talk to you when they need something, and IIf people seem angry to be around you.
Waiting a long time for a drink at a bar, never being approached by strangers, and always being asked to take a photo, not a selfie, were also “red flags.”
Some suggested searching for the truth on the Internet.
‘Post a video on TikTok about how someone called you ugly or how you feel ugly. If all the comments assure you that you are pretty, then you are definitely ugly. “If all the comments tell you to stop looking for compliments, then you are attractive,” they wrote.
Others said that getting into nature is the best option.
‘I’m 35 years old and I’ve never been booed. “That’s right,” said one woman.
“Go somewhere with drunk or indiscriminate men, like a workplace; if they don’t see you, then you’re ugly,” said another.
