Horror footage shows the moment a man tried to kill his father’s alleged killer during his trial after pulling out a gun and shooting him six times before hitting him with the butt of his gun.
Surveillance video from inside the courtroom in São José do Belmonte, Brazil, shows judges and jurors running for their lives after Cristiano Alves Terto, 27, opened fire.
In an attempt to shoot dead his father’s alleged killer, Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura, Terto can be seen standing up from the back of the courtroom after attending a jury session before sinisterly reaching into his pocket.
He walks past the other jurors as a woman grabs his arm in an apparent attempt to stop Terto from making the move.
But he breaks free of her grip and runs around the side of the seating area before launching his attack on Moura.
Cristiano Alves Terto, 27, was attending the trial of his father’s alleged murderer in a court in São José do Belmonte, Brazil, before pulling out a gun.
He allegedly fired six shots at Francisco Cleidivaldo Mariano de Moura as the jury fled in panic.
It is not yet clear if Moura was injured by any of the six shots.
Terto approaches the table and points in the direction of the man accused of murdering his father, and pulls the trigger, but Moura manages to retreat and apparently escapes the blow.
As he runs for cover behind the magistrate’s desk and ducks for cover, a furious Terto follows him as he shoots the unarmed man.
The jurors are seen fleeing the scene as Terto continues his rampage.
Moura then jumps over the table to hide behind a long desk, but this does not stop the gunman from continuing his attack.
Terto raises his arm in the air and swings his gun towards where Moura is crouching in an attempt to hit him with the revolver.
He does it a second time and apparently fails, as in a fit of rage, he runs around the table before two people try to stop him.
But it was in vain: in the corner of the video you can see Terto freeing himself before starting to hit Moura in the head with the butt of his gun.
The attack took place in November last year, but the footage was not released until Tuesday.
Terto was arrested the day after the incident and the 38 caliber revolver used was also seized, according to the Pernambuco Military Police.
He was then remanded in custody on November 30.
Terto then moves his arm to hit Moura in the head with the butt of his gun while he hides behind a table.
CCTV footage shows judges and jurors running or cowering in fear as the drama unfolded.
Moura was rushed to hospital after the incident and Terto was arrested the next day.
Following the incident, Moura was rushed to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger facility in Serra Talhada to receive treatment for his injuries.
Reports on the incident differed between saying that all of Terto’s shots were misses and that Moura was shot six times.
It has currently not been confirmed whether Moura was injured by any of the shots, but he has since been discharged.
The attack comes after Moura allegedly shot Terto’s father, Francisco Alves, on October 5, 2012.
According to his confession, he was looking for a donkey that had strayed from his property in Lagoa Alexandre.
When she found Alves at his estate, she asked him if he had seen her, only for Alves to allegedly respond: “Get off my property, you filthy thief.”
A heated argument broke out between the two, when Alves allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and walked towards him.
Moura then fired a shot into the air in an attempt to scare him, but Alves reportedly continued to advance towards him.
He then fired a second shot into the ground as Alves continued to approach.
He then fired a third shot, which hit him in the abdomen.
Alves was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a larger facility in Arcoverde, where he died 18 days after the shooting.
Moura then fled to Salgueiro, where he was arrested.
