A cheeky man and woman ran into a Kansas McDonald's and stole a life-size cut from Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes before jumping into a waiting escape car – but their quick exit was interrupted after the car crashed and the police saw him the back seat.

Police officers said they had noticed the cut-out of Mahomes shortly after being called to the scene of a crash in Ninth and Missouri streets in Lawrence on Monday, where one person was injured on the spot.
