Arsenal legend Thierry Henry is reportedly trying to persuade his former club to try and sign Anderlecht’s youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The Gunners are likely to be looking for a new central midfielder this summer, amid suggestions that Granit Xhaka could leave, and Brighton’s Yves Bissouma has been named as a possible target.

However, according to Football 24Henry has ‘put in a good word’ for Lokonga and believes he would be a good option for Mikel Arteta’s side.

Lokonga plays for the Belgian Under-21 and received his first call-up for seniors in March.

Although he was not included in the Belgian squad for Euro 2020, the 21-year-old is seen as a talented prospect.

Henry recently rejoined the Belgian coaching staff for this summer’s tournament, having previously worked with them between 2016 and 2018. The Frenchman, who is Arsenal’s all-time record scorer, was manager of Monaco and Montreal Impact.

Lokonga played 27 league matches for Anderlecht this season, scoring three times and also providing two assists.

The youngster has just over two years left with his contract with Anderlecht.
