- Thiago Silva signed a new one-year contract with Chelsea earlier this year
- Questions arose over his future after he appeared to post a goodbye message
- However, his wife has insisted the defender will stay at the club next season
Thiago Silva’s wife has quashed reports that the Brazilian could leave Chelsea this summer.
The centre-back, 38, has been a key player despite his age since joining the club on a free transfer in 2020, racking up 115 appearances.
Silva was a key player when the Blues won the Champions League in the 2020-21 season and regularly captained the team when Cesar Azpilicueta was absent.
He was also one of the few first-team stars to get any credit for Chelsea’s miserable campaign which sees them languishing in 11th after Saturday’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
After the match, Silva took to Instagram to post a cryptic message to supporters, raising questions about his future, despite signing a new one-year contract in February.

Silva had shared a cryptic Instagram post that looked like a farewell message to supporters

Sharing several touching photos of himself acknowledging his full-time supporters, the Brazilian said: “I would like to thank you for so much affection and respect for me and my family!! I know the season is not over yet. over, but we haven’t had a season that @ChelseaFC deserves, and I’m so sorry about that!
“But even so, I am honored in this way by the supporters. It’s very rewarding and you can be sure I’ll be blue for the rest of my life!! I love you with all my might. THANKS.’
However, his wife, Belle Silva – who hasn’t been afraid to express her frustration and opinions over Chelsea’s dismal campaign – shared a video on social media insisting that Silva would see the final year of his contract at the club.
She added: “I wanted to thank everyone. Every person who came to me for a hug, for a song outside the stadium. Thank you so much.
“We, my family, my husband, my children and I are very happy here in London, at Chelsea.
“So my family and I are blue and we are Chelsea and we are staying. Go Blues.’
The Brazilian has played 33 times in all of the club’s competitions this season and despite their disappointing results, the Blues’ defensive record is fourth best in the league.
They end the season with trips to Manchester United and Manchester City, before hosting Newcastle on the final day.

However, his wife – Belle Silva – reassured supporters he was staying and insisted his family were “very happy in London and at Chelsea”.
