The owner of a 7th dog who is mistaken for Chewbacca has admitted she ‘had no idea’ that her crossbreed would grow to the size of a ‘little man’.

Nina Ayling, 27, bought her Newfoundland Poodle cross Mylo, two, when he was just a six-week-old puppy, but within months the huge dog had outgrown the rest of its litter and is now the size of Nina at 6’2 ” and weighs an incredible 7pcs.

The administrator at Shoreham by Sea, West Sussex, says people stop and stare when she takes Mylo for a walk, often confusing the mutt with Star Wars’ Chewbacca or ‘a man in a bear suit’ when leaning over the bar. for a pint or at the dining table.

Nina said, “We had absolutely no idea he was going to be this big. We had seen the breeder’s previous litter from the same cross and none of them grew as big as Mylo.

Everyone loves him and he’s a well-known character in the local pub where he likes to jump up and lean over the bar.

‘People who have never seen him look dumbfounded. They mistake him for a man in a bear suit or say they thought it was Chewbacca.

‘We can’t go anywhere without people staring at us or being stopped by people asking us what he is.

“We even had to make a sign for him to wear that said” I’m a Newfypoo, I’m a year old and I don’t know if I’m going to get any bigger “because people kept asking us.”

Mylo tries his luck on the slot machines in his local pub.  Newfoundlands come in a wide spectrum of colors and are known for being intelligent, affectionate and loyal dogs with thick curly coats

But it seems nice. Mylo is blissfully unaware of his size and enjoys nothing more than sitting on someone’s lap or sitting at the table with his family.

Nina added: ‘He seems to think he’s a lap dog, he loves to sit on people’s knees and be petted.

“ If you stop petting him, he’ll even hit you with the paw to let you know to keep going. He’s just a big gentle giant! ‘

Newfoundland Poodle cross dogs can be between 20 and 28 inches long and weigh up to 10th, but they are usually between that and 5th in weight.

They come in a wide spectrum of colors and are known to be intelligent, affectionate and loyal dogs with thick curly coats.
