British Airways’ The offer to match the frequent flyer status of those on rival airlines like Delta and United ends Tuesday night.
Top-tier members of eight loyalty programs can earn Gold or Silver status in the BA Executive Club free of charge for at least six months with this offer.
That grants access to the airline’s posh lounges and other benefits.
But it also offers something that American travelers might value more: access to American Airlines lounges even when flying domestically in economy class. Even those with the highest AA status do not get that benefit.
Those who want to accept the offer must live in the US and apply by midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday, May 7.

Gold and Silver status on BA provides access to the British flag carrier’s lounges, free extra baggage, priority check-in, security and boarding and a better opportunity for upgrades.
It also offers the same benefits when flying on more than a dozen other airlines that are part of the same Oneworld alliance as BA, including American, Alaska, Cathay Pacific, Quantas, Qatar and Fiji.
It is very rare for BA to match the status, as earning gold involves spending tens of thousands of dollars on flights and offers enviable perks.
BA will match its status with three US and Canadian airline programs: Delta’s SkyMiles, United’s Mileage Plus and Air Canada’s Aeroplan.
Loyalty program members of five European airlines can also earn gold or silver: Virgin Atlantic, Air France, KLM, Luthansa and Scandinavian.
The offer, Launched on April 9, it is valid for new and existing BA Executive Club members who are members of one of the programs listed above with the corresponding status.
Customers with premium status on all eight airlines can apply online.
They must provide valid proof of their frequent flyer status and the result of the application will be shared via email.
Successful applicants will be promoted to the equivalent level for an initial period of six months. BA Gold and Silver status is also valuable for American Airlines travelers, giving them access to their Admirals Club lounges even when flying domestically in economy class.
The Soho Lounge at JFK in New York, jointly managed by American Airlines and British Airways. Travelers with BA Gold can access it when flying domestically and internationally on both airlines or in Alaska.
The Chelsea Lounge at New York’s JFK Airport, jointly managed by American Airlines and British Airways. It is a lounge for First Class passengers and also with BA Guest List Gold status, which is one above their normal Gold level.

Successful applicants will be promoted to the equivalent level for an initial period of six months.
This can be extended to a full year if they book two eligible flights (or one return flight).
An eligible flight is a BA-marketed business or first class flight (operated by British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia, Aer Lingus or Finnair) originating in the US, Canada or Mexico.
