Phil Neville looks forward to an emotional return to Old Trafford when the lionesses open their European championship campaign at the Theater of Dreams.
Neville, one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s legendary class 92, spent 15 years at United before signing for Everton. He returned to United as a coach before taking charge of the England women’s team.
With 500 days to go until the opening match, Neville welcomed the announcement that his old home is one of 10 grounds to organize Euro 2021 matches.

“I only realized the effect that Old Trafford had on people when I went there with Everton,” said Neville, who says that the iconic ground still has a “special place in his heart.”
‘I remember my first game – you drive to the stadium and the coach is silent. You get there and all players look up [in awe]. What we need to do now is to expose our players to great occasions, so when they come to Old Trafford, it is as if they are entering your grandmother’s front room and drinking a cup of tea. “

England last organized the euro in 2005 when the Hope Powell side ended down the group.
Neville said, “I’ve heard negative things about the staging of the euro, but we should see it as a huge advantage for our players to go there with 75,000 English supporters behind them.”
The final will be organized on August 1, 2021 at the Wembley Stadium.
