Microsoft is returning its Xbox All Access bundle just in time for the holidays. Xbox All Access is a bundle that splits the costs of an Xbox console, Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live into monthly payments for 24 months. Microsoft bundles an Xbox One X, Xbox One S or a digital edition of the Xbox One S with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, starting at $ 19.99 a month. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offers access to games on Xbox and PC and support for Xbox Live Gold for multiple players.
The monthly basic bundle of $ 19.99 includes a digital Xbox One S with 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and the option to upgrade after 18 months. A normal Xbox One S bundle costs $ 22.99 per month for 24 months and an Xbox One X is available for $ 30.99 per month. Microsoft introduces a special upgrade offer for the Xbox One X bundle, with the option to upgrade to Project Scarlett within 12 months.
The new Project Scarlett console from Microsoft will be launched in holiday 2020 and Microsoft will keep this upgrade offer until December 31, 2019. You can trade in your Xbox One X next year with the same store where you purchased the Xbox All Access bundle from. If you opt for a digital Xbox One S bundle, you will be charged for the upgrade to Project Scarlett, but otherwise this seems like a good deal.
If you currently sell an Xbox One X for $ 399 in the Microsoft Store, and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is usually $ 14.99 a month, the total cost over two years is $ 758.76. If you pay Microsoft $ 30.99 per month for two years, the total cost is $ 743.76, so you can save a little, spread the payments and get access to a Project Scarlett upgrade.
Microsoft is clearly announcing this Xbox All Access program before Black Friday sales, and at a time when console sales have plummeted while consumers are waiting for the next generation of PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett. This can tempt consumers to opt for an Xbox, knowing that there is a simple upgrade path and the ability to play games in 4K HDR that move to Project Scarlett.
Even the digital edition bundle of Xbox One S seems a reasonable deal, unless there is a significant saving on the console or Xbox Game Pass this holiday. For $ 19.99 a month, the total cost is $ 479.76 over two years, compared to $ 608.76 if you purchased the console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate separately.
Microsoft is also bringing its Xbox All Access bundles to the UK and Australia. The bundles are available directly from Microsoft and from the company's stores, or via Telstra in Australia, Amazon in the US or Game and Smyths Toys in the UK. However, Project Scarlett's special upgrade offer is only available in the US and UK.
